Troybilt Pony 42 7 speed stopped and won't start.

Hello everyone, I had borrowed my neighbor's Troybilt Pony (13AM77BS023)
yesterday, which is only 3 years old and everything was fine until I bottomed out or hit something, I dont really remember exactly, but I know it wasn't that bad at all.
When I went back to engage the PTO, it shook a little and also smoked. So I immediately shut it down and let it rest a bit. When I went back and tried to start it, nothing happened at all, it didn't even turn over ? Im thinking this might be a switch or something small, and I was wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction. Something like this happened with my old murray a while back, when I hit a tree root. It stopped abruptly and threw the drive belt off for safety purposes, and I fixed it. But, I think this situation is a little different. Hopefully something simple. I really dont want to get *****ed out by my 78 year old neighbor lol. Please help !

Upon trouble shooting, I charged the battery for about an hour, and it struggled to turn over and mostly just buzzed. This is leading me to believe that the problem is the battery. I will get the battery tested to make sure. The battery is only 3 years old and it never hesitated or gave me a problem. But as I was cutting, then engaged the PTO it suddenly started shaking and stalled. I guess there wasn't enough power left to handle that. Does this sound right to you ? Because it happened so fast, and I think I've been racking my brains out trying to figure this out, when it was just the battery.
 
I think you are having at two issues. First the starting problem and then a deck related problem.

Batteries are for starting only unless the alternator system has failed.

First resolve the starting issue and then the deck related issue. The culprit of the deck issue which most likely a failing bearing. Plus you may smoked the belt so will need replacing if so.
 
I checked the belts and they're all intact and look new. The failing bearing ,if there is can stop it from starting ?

Update: I just had the battery tested at Walmart and it's completely dead. I guess I have to start with a new one and take it from there regardless..
 
Replace the battery and troubleshoot from there. Shaking and smoking aren't likely to be caused by the battery. Check the belt. Is it damaged, and still correctly routed? Check the blade, is it bent or broken? Does the blade move freely with engine not running and PTO disengaged? Try and move one end of the blade up and down. Bearings are suspect for sure, as Star Tech has said.
