The pisonr has .019 checking the ring gap with feeler gauge . This is over recommendations of .015. I ran when I first pulled it. smoked the oil off and it quit and will not start. Where can I get a ring without so much gap. One that actually fits.
 
have you even dissected to see what the problem is. Other things can happen as I had two ignition coils on two Husqvarna saws to die after repairs. I mean right after I repaired them. One of which all I did was to add a decompression valve.

So what it the compression number? It should be around 130+ psi with a new cylinder with a new piston and ring. Did you torque the flywheel to spec?

Lots of things to check before deciding what happen.
 
Don't overlook the muffler being choked with carbon. If exhaust cannot get out, intake air and fuel cannot get in.

My advice is to get a cylinder and piston kit if possible
 
yes checked muffler did not do a pressure test but compression test was 45 tore it back down noticed a shiny spot near the intake port. and one other shiny spot. I think the ring didnot take or from what I read I have a glazed cylinder
I am going to rough it up with red scotch bright and try it again

If you are testing compression with the correct tester with Schraeder valve, then 45 psi is really low. If the cylinder is badly scored, you cannot simply “rough it up with red Scotchbrite.” Rebuilding a Poulan chainsaw is like polishing a turd. Did you buy OEM parts or off brand aftermarket?
 
ebay off brand like I say not scored just chrome shiney spot near the intake and exhaust port not a streak nothing to feel with fingernail. I get u that its not much of a saw. but ran before should run again. I remember hearing of rings not seating in a car engine I dont have much experience with chainsaw rebuilds
 
As many I have rebuilt never had a problem with OEM cylinder kit or piston and rings. Now if they used a plain piston in that non NCC cylinder there could clearance issue as the piston and rings are smaller.

The setup is either a non NCC cylinder and a NCC plated piston or a NCC cylinder [which looks rough as heck] and a plain piston. And you should install new crankshaft seals.

NCC > Nickel Ceramic Coating
