X304 steering geometry

I was hoping someone could help with some info. on the steering geometry for my 2013 X304. I got looking to see why there was so much play in the steering wheel, as the last owner told me that the rack and pinion was new last year. I was hoping to be able to draw the rack housing closer to take up some of the play. I centered the wheels to see if the rack and pinion had been centered when they were replaced, and noticed that the leading edge of the front wheels were really toed out. Is this supposed to be like this? I don't want to 'correct' it if it's supposed to be like this. With a straight edge against the rear tire, and the wheels centered to the machine, there is roughly 3/4" toe out on the leading edge of the front tires.
Also, something off this topic, I noticed the gas tank leaking on my X300 (2008). Does anyone know the best 2 part epoxy that's gas impervious to fix the hole?
Any information on either question would be massively appreciated. TIA.
 
I have never found any epoxy that will patch a cracked fuel tank or a puncture. Once the tank material is exposed to fuel; nothing will adhere to it for any length of time. A new fuel tank is the correct repair.
 
HDPE plastic is highly chemical resistance. Nearly nothing will stick (bond) to it, I did find one product that claimed it bonded to it but the time it was over $300 for an ounce. The repair method is plastic welding. And badly deteriorated tanks it is best just to replace them.

Thank you for replying. I was going to try to melt/bond fine stainless mesh, really roughing up the surrounding area, and applying JB plastic 2 part epoxy. But if it's a waste of time, a new tank will have to happen. I know that West Systems Flex epoxy works on the hoods that crack all the time, if you prepare them correctly. but HDPE is a lot different than the hood material. And I don't think Flex epoxy is gas/petrol impervious.
 
Yes the hood are ABS plastic and bonds well with the right product. For me Permatex needs to come out with a JD green plastic weld epoxy.

I'll have to check that out. I know Permatex makes good products. Probably cheaper than West Systems too. Do you buy the JD green epoxy online?
 
JB weld is a great product for many application that do not involve fuels or constant heat cycles like a radiator brass or plastic tanks. I've seen that stuff slathered on everything imaginable. At best it will buy a little time and slow down a severe problem in an emergency. It has never been what I would consider a permanent correct repair material.
