Starting a new project YTH1542XP with a Kawasaki FH430V 2004 riding mower

This YTH1542XP with a Kawasaki FH430V I believe is a 2004 mower. The motor sound great. The frame looks good and the transmission is good.
But the deck is a disaster, nothing to weld to Pure rust. Is it possible to buy just to deck shell and transfer all the hardware over and do the third party decks fit properly?
 
To confirm actual part number for your mower will need the 9 digit code from the label under the seat May start with 954 It looks like it could be part number 548102301 list for $399.99

Unless you buy a used deck in good shape for cheap, by the time you buy a new deck, you are around the value of the mower in most cases.
 
John there is one possible problem of transferring deck parts. That is the spindle mounting bolts tends to be severely corroded in place and usually break off requiring new spindle housings. This why I never remove them for bearing replacements; I just leave them in place and replace the bearings as needed.
 
Good point, I hit enough stuff in this yard to replace spindle before they corrode to that point. Reclaiming a couple acres that are severely overgrown
 
A mechanic with working knowledge thinks that way right up front. I'm sure not the mechanic yet. But learning. I might buy the deck housing only because I already own the mower and can't cut grass with out the deck. I'll try to locate a used one first but that could be hard due to it's age. I'll have to struggle with heating bolts and trying to switch over the hardware. It could turn into a riding toy for the grandchildren.
 
One can install stainless steel bolts and nuts to cure this corrosion issue. It's not the space shuttle.

One slight problem that can done on new installs but on older components like the cast aluminum spindle housing with self tapping screws as they tend to break off. And with screws being harden steel too one attempting to re-use spindle needs carbide bits to cut out the old screw leftovers.

I have done it but carbide bits are not cheap to get and used especially since it is easily chipped.

I'm sure I'll be picking up better grade hardware. My next step is can I save on shipping cost by having the deck shell shipped through a local visa area dealer?
