01 225 not charging

Pretty sure GH made more than one mower. Guys will not know what engine/mower you have. Going to get eaten alive requesting numbers here pretty quick.

Well the IPLs doesn't give us the engine info, but is enough info to show that the engine has to come out as it is horizontal shaft driving a mule belt setup.

But first you need to verify that stator actually bad and not the voltage regulator. Can save you a lot of work.

or a mouse chewed wire. Are you checking with a volt meter or just assuming it is bad because the battery is not charging?

i checked the stator it is only putting out 4 volts AC serial # is 5119044

Grasshopper is a pain to work on and I don’t work on them anymore as a result. Do everything you can to get it to charge before pulling that engine because it will undoubtedly turn into an ordeal.

Most horizontal shaft mower are a pain. A lot more to do just to pull the engine. I had a customer that insisted it only took 30 minutes to pull and install one a Cub Cadet horizontal shaft setup.

I told him if he can do it in 30 minutes I would write off the whole repair bill, I even offered the use of my tools. He just paid the bill instead.

A bad battery can pull charging voltage way down.

Older Cub Cadet, and Grasshopper mowers with horizontal shaft engines are a pain. Need to line up the stuff just right. Some of the tins are a huge pain to remove and reinstall also. So by experience, I have gotten more selective on certain types of equipment I don’t work on. Most shops won’t touch the equipment I won’t work on as well. The difference is I used to take on the repair and now have learned it is a headache.
