If this is a rider and not a ZTR whatever you do don't let the leaves pile up around the muffler. I had one customer with a four month old JD S180 that wished he didn't as it costed him $2300 to repair the damage from the resulting fire.

Are you referring to an "X" blade that is used on some machines?

What model machine are you asking about?

Gator blades are good for mulching along with cutting the yard a couple of times back-to-back to get the mulch even finer.
