Showing posts as resolved, is that possible?

It never fails that on a regular basis people will read an initial post and then reply to it without following the thread to see that the issue was already resolved.

Is there a way to indicate when a post has been resolved so we don't get so much needless "after the fact" repair suggestions that are useless.

I doubt that it is possible, as the OP must do that. Most times they don’t even post back and say thanks. They are the only ones who know the end results.

Correct.

Most don't even appreciate the help offered. And posting the results does help others too if they did a follow up.

I have gotten to where I do more data harvesting than helping on various forums. Besides I very rarely get any help with my problems. IE posting a thread and never get any replies. And matter of fact on one forum I have pulled access to over 95% of the service manuals I have. Why post help when I get none in return?

Hi StarTech,

That is what we get on open forums like this. Gratification is a rare occurrence.

Most people jump on the net for a quick instant answer and if they don't get it in 30 seconds, they jump over to another search or surf through hours of You Tube videos to learn how to change a spark plug.

Keep in mind that as you become exceptional proficient at something, it is hard to find people who can offer more. I belong to another forum where many of my questions go unanswered for the same reason - no one else has faced the issue, or if they did they pulled the parts cannon trigger until it died too.

It might be possible to get something that other users could mark a thread as "Answered" after a post has been up X days and maybe if enough users agree it gets marked as "answered." I'll look into it.

That's all anyone can ask for.

Lawn equipment is getting incredibly expensive these days and people are more inclined to attempt repairs or seek credible advice more and more.

Myself along with many others are just simple experienced volunteers. We try and assist when possible, but it is crazy how many posts get resolved and people are still trying to reply with assistance long after the fact.

I don't know if moving them or flagging them into a resolve category file would help.

For the ones that just end up being "dead" posts after a month to a year or so, they should likely just be purged. They are just wasted space in the database. Trolls and needless dead end net surfers who don't keep their post active need to go away.

I'm grateful to have this site and the experienced folks who participate.
