Posted a question about how you dismiss a REPLY "quoted text" box if you change your mind and decide not to reply.....

This is solved.....If you decide to not reply after all you must first POST the reply, even if blank, and then use the DELETE function of the POSTED reply to kill the "REPLY"......Kinda non-intuitve but once you know, you know. Thanks to Muhammad for suffering thru this experiment.....👍

so, in other words what everyone is saying is that instead of fixing this forum someone just went ahead and broke it some more, no big surprise there.....

No, I know you're not...this software is counter intuitive to any other I've encountered.

When you hit REPLY to a post, does it not bring up the greyed out original post as "quoted text" and allow you to "associate" your reply with that? Yes it does. But if you change your mind there is no way out except to POST REPLY with no associated reply text and only then will you have the option to delete that post. Every other site has a CANCEL button, or something similar, that takes care of that with one selection.

I now don't think you need to change anything except provide an explanation in the HELP section that once you hit REPLY you must POST REPLY, even is there is none, and then DELETE that same numbered post as the clean up step. Once you know how it works it's trivial to correct it....assuming users are conscientious enough to do so....

Thanks! I posted the solution at the bottom of message #1 in the original chain in the COMMUNITY section a few days ago......

It "associates" it in that the quote is in the message. But there is no actual link to your message in this message. That way people can reply to multiple messages in one reply, but it's not threaded replies.

What about the "Undo" button? Does that get it back to blank for you? I was able to click UNDO and it blanked it out.

Well, I'm still trying to figure out what solutions might solve it. I don't think we "broke it more" as nothing was changed.

See post #21. As I mention there, it's not entirely intuitive as most forum software just has a CANCEL button right next to the POST REPLY that takes care of the issue. The solution is already posted to the Community section. Cheers!
