Trying to decide about a brush cutter, need power but my budget is somewhere up to $600. I have had a Stihl fs55 for over 20yrs as a string trimmer, rebuilt the carb twice , replaced the carb a couple of yrs ago but just lacks the power to use anything but a string head or a grass blade on it.

I‘m also wanting a model that has bike type handles. I went online to Stihl’s site, but I’m seeing most are of a 4 stroke design, and a lot of people are talking about having to adjust the valves periodically depending on usage. Now I can certainly do that but at age 74, the more maintenance free I can get things, the more time it leaves to play guitar, or repair whatever else is needing maintenance 🙂 so I think I want to stick with a 2 stroke.

I welcome your opinion based upon your experience with those of you that have one that have cut vines, thick weeds/grass and small bushes.

Thanks

Darrell

I don't know anything about Husky 's. I do have 2 Sthils, an FS85, and FS90. Either will run a brush 3 blade cutter, and string . I've cut through 1/2" to 9/16" brush, easily.

Hey thanks for your reply. I’ll check into those
BTW, I was using the 3 blade cutter to cut through the thick stuff. If you search out info on the Stihl website, or ask the dealer.
