New first time customer dropped off his Husqvarna rider with a kohler V-twin, Electric PTO... he bought it used.
Complaint, Battery wouldn't charge and it would die while mowing, have to jump start to start it and it might run a few minutes then die out, had already taken it to the local Husqvarna/Kohler/Briggs/kawasaki dealer....
First thing i do is check my connections at solenoid, starter and battery and both ends of the ground... This is what i found for the main connection at the battery, severely corroded and barely finger tight...
cut the cable and crimped a new end on it and so far, with about 1 hour of use, it has stayed running and is charging at 13.6 and battery maintained a charge of 12.8 while sitting 24 hours..... Kind of pathetic anyone would let that cable out of their shop like that.

Hi Scrubcadet10,

Only (most) independent operators know what they are doing these days because they grew up working on this equipment.

Equipment Dealer shops are just about the last place I would recommend to anyone except for a possible warranty concern, even then there is a good chance it will not be fixed correctly.

A lot of the equipment dealer shops only hire people just for new equipment setup. Actually, working on them if they have problems, is a different story.

Like to watch auto diagnostic videos on youtube. OBD2 code readers and tracing wires....... Anywho, many a car where they open the hood, the battery terminals are fogged over with corrosion. Can't even see the terminals for the cottage cheese LOL. They continue on trying to fix the car....... Crazy stuff.

Hi slomo,

There are as many good videos as there are bad out there on the web. Some are just idiots trying to BS their way through without checking the obvious stuff first. I try to watch the ones that actually own shops and run a business.

I even watch Teryl Fixes All on occasion, even though he acts and dresses goofy, he really knows his stuff when it comes to small engine repair. Chickanic is another good one, I think she played with small engines instead of dolls when she was growing up.
