Just recently had to personally warranty a pressure washer pump with a Simpson pump. Simpson flat refuse to honor their warranty as the they had recently stop manufacturing the pump. Three month into the one year warranty. I found that they had installed a bad piston which took out all the seals including the crankcase seal. I had to eat about $170 in repair parts on a $200 pump. That will be the last Simpson pressure washer pump I buy and sell.

And BTW the local authorize Simpson repair shops had refused to even take the pump in because Simpson refused to pay for warranty that they had already had done.

Simpson doesn't give me any issues as far as warranty. The issue I run into is getting Gardner to process the claim and issue the credit on the account without emailing the warranty department and basically say you are not doing your job. Simpson gave me fits this past summer on one of the pressure washers with a CAT pump. Now CAT pumps have to be shipped back to CAT at owner expense for warranty consideration. But after requesting the RNA, CAT approved the pump, and shipped me a new pump and then FNA paid for the warranty plus the return freight.

The thing with Simpson/FNA is there is a $0 warranty approval, so everything has to be factory approved prior to warranty repair. Pumps are not repaired the are replaced with a pump shipped from FNA in Mount Prospect, IL and then the old pump is shipped back using the return tag supplied in the box that was shipped to you with the replacement pump. FNA supplies the dealer with a reference number that is basically your approval to file the warranty claim with Gardner. I probably file 1-2 claims a month during the summer and a few scattered throughout the slower months.

The biggest issue I see with pressure washers is frozen pumps after the winter. Most will show up at the shop from late March to early May when they get them out of the garage for the first time, and then they have a water leak.
 
If all else fails it might be possible to take the old one to a hardware store. Maybe Ace or True Value, etc. Or Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply. Some of these places carry rubber hose they will cut to length you need. The inside diameter is the most important thing. Just an idea if all else fails.
 
If 3\16" is the ID, just buy locally at auto parts, get fuel acceptable hose. Can be thin wall. If the engine doesn't run with no hose, I would try attaching a short length to the air cleaner and plug it. May be causing vacuum leak. If still doesn't run, try opening the gas cap. This is for test only, you should replace the hose.
 
Just for giggles, have you tried running it without the gas cap? My thought is it is non vented and is depending on a vacuum from the intake to open a valve to vent the tank. With no tank venting, it would run for a short period then die. I have seen the same thing on pre epa units when their vented had cap plugs.

This thing is supposed to be like 4 feet! Can someone PLEASE shed some light on this?! I really need to cut my grass.

That is simply a gas vapor vent for EPA mandated emissions control. It has nothing to do with engine starting or running. You have a plugged carburetor, failed fuel pump, plugged fuel line from tank to carburetor, plugged gas filter, and/or old gas.

Both 689-00685 and 689-00686 assemblies have been NLA since at least August 2024.

Use the following parts listed in notes and assemble as LH or RH as needed.
