troy bilt pressure washer with 8.75 engine went bad .Can i put a 7.75 on it without changing pumps ?

The 8.75 is the foot pounds of torque rating, not the horsepower rating. Would almost have to be another engine from a pressure washer to replace current engine, because of the length of crankshaft. Please report if you were successful.

IF the crankshaft is too long it can shorten.

But if the OP post both engine model and type numbers I can look up the crankshafts.
