i am currently building a snowplow at my school and i was wondering how strong of springs i should use i want them stiff enough that it wont just tip over, but light enough tht if and when i hit something solid it will tip down.

I would say that if it's for a truck use springs from a truck snow plow etc.

How big is the plow and what are you pushing it with?

And what is the mechanical advantage of the plow with your attachment points? If the springs are low on the plow, it'll take a stiffer spring than if they are attached high. Think of the plow as a pry bar; if you grab it near the prying point, you need a lot of muscle - stiff springs, if you grab it near the other end, less muscle, softer springs.

its 45 inches wide and im using a lawnmower
