So my craftsman push mower is giving me lots of issues and I think it's time for a new mower. I am looking at either the Snapper Ninja mulching mower, Toro Super Mulcher or the Honda HRX217. I have a large sloping backyard backed up to a preserve.

I have the Honda. It doesn't bag or self propels, but it is by far the smoothest and most comfortable mower I have ever used.

If it was me, I would take a serious look at the Toro model 21381. Last mower you will probably need to buy.

I, too, cast my vote for Toro. I have a Toro Personal Pace that I bought at least 10 years ago, and it does great...I especially like the fact that it mows as fast, or slow, as I want to walk. All I've done to it, over the years, is change the oil regularly, and clean the deck, etc., after each use.

What is all this Toro talk in the Snapper forum? LOL Only good thing from Toro is their Personal Pace bar. Best drive bar on any mower.

My mower experience - Snappers are the only push mower to outlast the engine.

All other brands be it Honda, Toro, Cub Cadet, Craftsman, Exmark (Toro), John Deere and so on, the engines outlast the mower.

Here's another one. Have you priced repair parts for a Honda Hydro transmission? Take out a second mortgage. It's like $8.00 to replace the Snapper rubber drive disk.

And all those fancy levers you have to hold fatigue your hands especially on bumpy yards. That Honda space ship lever thing cramps your hands on the HRX217. Lots of people complaining about carb and transmission issues too. Honda warranty does not cover any carb issues. But hey, lot of people are happy with them. ??

For a large yard, look at the Toro Timemaster. Or even better a 33" Snapper RER (older one).

See, for me, that is where I dislike the Honda mowers. It's not a certain model either. I've owned a couple Commercials, used my neighbors NEW HRX217 and several models prior to these. Non of them impressively bag like a Snapper Hi-Vac. My Snappers will suck spare change off your garage floor, with ease. And to dishcharge at your feet, come on Honda. I love the high grass Youtube videos where the guy is using a Honda pusher and walking to the side of the mower LOL. They are "good" mowers yes. Not "great" mowers like Snappers are.

I have two snapper hivacs and love them! Mine are old though. 78 and 84 model, so yours may be better. I definitely don't like the rear discharge feature. That's why I bought a side discharge. Lol. It's an HRS216, I believe.

You can't bag with a side discharge. The chute would make the mower much wider. You would be hitting stuff in the yard with it. Another idea that needs rethought from Honda.
