Replaced deck belt and reinstalled deck started mower worked fine turned mower off to readjust tension on engagement lever went to restart nothing?? I have already checked the battery ( brand new ) getting 12v to starter solenoid placed screwdriver across both bottom posts on starter solenoid starter engine cranks. Thought it might be starter solenoid replaced and once again nothing. From further reading the top of the solenoid has a Hot and a GND when you turn the key it is supposed to apply 12v to the hot which engages the solenoid to start the motor I am not getting the 12v at the top of solenoid. Now I am stuck checked the GND that seems find reads 0ohms. I am aware but no idea how to check possible problems ignition switch, wiring harness to ignition switch, brake / clutch safety switch, seat safety switch as well as anything else I may have missed. I also tried starting the mower by taking the hot from the battery to the top of solenoid hot lead and yes it started. So yes I am lost any ideas please?? Now this is probably a dumb idea but a cheap way to fix it I was thinking of getting a simple on / off toggle switch have one side connected to battery other side to top of solenoid. That way it would eliminate the need to open motor cover and use a jumper wire instead just turn switch on once started turn it off??

According to Manual, the Mexican know it all, the factory fitted a 4 pole solenoid.
So there is a pair of heavy cables and 3 thin ones.
Two of the thin ones have spade terminals on them and they go to the tabs , does not matter which way.
The third wire has a ring and it goes on the same side as the cable from the battery.
That wire supplies power to the entire mower.

When you turn the Key to Start, power goes from the battery cable via the thin wire through a fuse through the key switch through the PTO switch through the Brake switch then finally down to the solenoid wire with a blade terminal on it.
Usually this trigger wire will be a light colour, yellow, pink or orange.
When it goes 12V and if the other wire is ground then the solenoid switches and send power to the starter.
This is done to protect your starter motor & your feet so when cranking the engine does not have any load and the blades can not spin.

Common mistake is to put the power feed wire on the starter side & not the battery side.

You say top so I guess the solenoid is mounted horizontal with the trigger wires at the top and the power cables at the front .

Thank you for your reply bertsmobile. The explanation you wrote is better then mine. What I did and as of yet have not checked I left all the wires attached to the solenoid and just added. I also attached the on / off switch between the purple wire (hot) and to the post that connects directly to the battery on the solenoid. I maybe wrong but iff the safety switches are still working once the motor is running if I get off the motor it should stop the brake / clutch if I do not depress the motor will crank but ?? do not know if it will start or not have not tried. So instead of 3 wires to the spade terminals I have 4 2 black on 1 side the purple and another wire to the other. Right or wrong it works fine.

Decided to check to see if the seat safety switch still works and it does the brake however does not whether I press the brake or not I can still start the motor. Now the only issue I go in reverse it shuts down when I press and hold the RIO button works fine?
