MTD front wheel bushings

Who out there has replaced the plastic front wheel bearings on MTD tractors with oilite or super oilite bushings?

Like the 941-0990 and 941-0516 outside bush??
I hope those are the correct #'s,,,

I see parts listing for complete wheel/tire assy...gotta dig deeper..

Would the lack of spindle hardening be a problem?

I almost always go to the hardware store and change bushings to brass.

Needle rollers really should only be inside things that are fully enclosed.
A very small amount of dust can jamb the rollers then you have a steel on steel bearing.

Needle rollers are usually open and run direction on the shaft ( no inner race so the shafts need to be GROUND round and better than 75R hard.

Yeah, I kinda figgered the axle needed to be hardened........

Maybe I can figger a way to use a 3/4" x 8" shoulder bolt for the axle......
