I'm throwing these questions out there on the behalf of my father. Let me preface this by saying, he has been building and repairing driveshafts for 48 years so he very mechanical but not tech savvy. So that's where I come in. You guys have really helped me out with my issues so here it goes. I made it through about 40 some pages in this forum out of 97 I think, but I called it quits! My dad received from a guy a John Deere 116H Serial#M00116D237158. It is a 2 cylinder Kawasaki engine I believe around 19 hp with a 46-inch mower deck. The tractor itself runs great no issues there. When my dad got this mower he was told the deck had issues. What issues? We don't know. My dad has been to our local JD Dealer several times to get miscellaneous parts and pieces. All of the pulleys on the deck have been replaced as well as the spindles. The deck is in ok condition. It has been welded on before but for free, it's ok. The issue we are having is with finding an accurate diagram of the deck itself. I have searched on JD talked with JD etc. but nothing showing what we are up against. Plus all younger guys at the JD Dealers that can input part numbers. Nothing wrong with that. There is one eyebolt on the deck. That part of the puzzle was easily solved. But, there is an additional spring on the other side that looks like it should hook to something. My dad got another eyebolt and put it in on the other side and hooked the spring to it. The main double pulley assembly still feels loose. Will this tighten up when it is hooked to the bottom of the engine? I know this request is lacking photos. My dad is sending them to me this evening so I will be able to post later. The other issue is trying to figure out how the heck the main drive belt for the hydrostat is routed? We are stumped. If someone could share a pic from a manual or something that would be wonderful. Trying not to buy a manual unless we absolutely have to. Any and all information on any of these issues will be a tremendous help. I will upload the pics as soon as I get them this evening. Thanks in advance for helping a guy helping his old man. We appreciate it.

THe parts lisr for the mower is on the JD web site.
No eye bolts shown so most likely an addition to hold the discharge flap open.
Just because it is on the deck now does not mean it was there in 2002 when the mower left the factory.

Bert, the eyebolt was used to tension the stacked pulley on the early decks
see items 22,23, & 24 in above drawing

Thanks, guys for the diagram and the info. From what I am seeing I need to know what spring Part#19 in the diagram attaches to? I'm still waiting on pics from my dad, so once I get them I will post them. As with anything it may not be the original deck that the mower came with! I appreciate it guys. On a complete side note here. Can the experts tell me why I am not receiving email notifications like I did before? I have the box checked at the bottom of this?

One thing I learned early on in my ownership of JD farm equipment and that is, Genuine JD parts are usually at least 50% more than any other brand name identical parts. I've learned to cross parts and get them non JD if I can and only buy JD parts from the dealer if absolutely necessary. Just did that with rotary rake teeth. The Genuine JD rake tooth assemblies are 22 bucks each. Shoup Brothers in Kankakee, Illinois sell the same exact assembly for $10.25 per. BTW, they also sell pulleys and mower parts just like ASC does.

Hey, SidecarFlip I am very familiar with Shoup. We buy a lot of our planter parts from there. Most farmers around them for the exact same reason you mentioned. Yeah, I only buy from the JD Dealer when we absolutely have to. They aren't terrible on Lawn Mower Parts because some things are "special" components from various suppliers, unlike a big tractor or combine that is let's say All John Deere. I appreciate it.
