B&S 3 hp engine

my 3hp B&S engine , about 20yrs old starts up good and runs about 1 hr, then dies. unit is on a 1300 watt gen': just stops at once, no coughing or sputtering any ideas as to problem?

Specific engine nos. would help. Are you able to restart immediately? If not, when? If not, do you by chance have an inline ignition tester(very inexpensive) to see if it's an ignition vs fuel problem?

I do have a tester, didn,t try to restart, tried apxx' an hour later , cranked right up . thanks for your input
