Hi, new to forum. Trouble deciding whether to replace 1995 Master Series HR215K1SXA (3 Spd. Gear, Aluminum deck) with a HRX217VYA (blade stop, select drive). Small lawn, about 1/4 acre flat. HR215 has worked problem free with no service over the years other than standard maintenance. Only issue is engine slows down and/or may stall out if grass is a bit tall or wet and then leaves a clump of grass; use mower in mulch position. Interestingly I paid $649 for the Master Series mower in 1995 which is the identical price the HRX217VYA is currently priced at.
Appreciate any thoughts. I'm looking for a trouble free experience with a new mower. Want to improve the engine slow down/stall out issue with current mower (perhaps its just a minor service issue if i decide to keep the old mower). The Leaf shredding and clip director features on the new mower sound appealing. The HRX217VYA is select drive and I'm thinking that is good enough vs the $80 upcharge to the HRX217HYA with hydrostatic transmission. With Master Series, I leave it at one speed and never change it.
Finally, should I try to sell the Master Series mower and any idea of reasonable value. Live in Philadelphia area. Thanks
