I have a garden tiller with a 5 hp.Briggs engine it runs alright but when I put the breather on it almost dies out?

If you haven't cleaned the carb then I would start there.

If the air filter is too dirty it may not be letting enough air through. If you adjusted the carb with the air filter off you may need to readjust it with the filter on.

Old engine can not adj. carb.
