I'm curious as to how many members use a digital camera, to use as a " pictorial manual .... " when working on a piece of equipment they're NOT familiar with . Especially if you DON'T have a manual . .....:anyone:

I use the digital on some things.
The small items like - - where does this spring hook back up and in which hole in which lever and was it the long end or short end -- I prefer color coding with a dab of paint. EX: blue end goes to the third hole because it be blue too. yellow end goes to that piece over there with the yellow hole. Throttle cable end came from here with the dab of white paint. Just a few minutes can save all kinds of frustrations and the camera backs up my mis-understanding too.

Did you ever try to read a mod. no. or serial on the back side of a washer or dryer with it against the wall? Well, that's the first thing needed so even though not handy lets just do it. You take a picture in a mirror with your digi and then on your pooter flip it and the backward inverted numbers will be uprighted.

Workshp has a big screen computer in it and the old digital hooked up to it.

First reason is to show customers what is broken & needs fixing
Second reason is as a reassembly reference
been doing this ever since I got the digital, way before I was in the small engine business.

I really like your idea of showing the customer whats broke and needs fixing ...... never thought of that , does it improve customer relations ??
If you ever looked at my albums on this site you'd understand I go ...... OVERBOARD !!! but I later delete those I think I wont need . They never made service manuals for Murray mowers so the pics are invaluable at times . ...
