I left for work yesterday and had a flat while driving on the 4 lane highway. Put my blue lights on in hopes to get vehicles to move over. I managed to get my jack and lug wrench from under the driver's side back seat without getting hit by on coming traffic. I loosened the lugs on the wheel and went to get the spare from under the truck. I have two cell phones. One is a work phone and the other is personal. I put them on the center console of my truck so I wouldn't break them. I changed the tire and decided to put the jack and lug wrench in the passenger floor instead of putting back where they go for fear of getting run over. I shut the door and go to the driver's side to continue my journey to work, and the door is locked. The jack handle must have hit the door lock button while I was putting everything in the truck. I don't have a way to contact anyone for help, because my hand held radio was dead the day before and I put it on the charger in my office. On Fridays CID wears jeans, so I wasn't in a uniform. I attempted to flag someone down to borrow their phone, but soon realize no one is going to stop for a man standing on the side of the road next to an unmarked pick up wearing a gun on his side. I walked for a while before someone turned around and let me borrow their phone to call the office. Needless to say everyone at work had a good laugh at my expense.

Wow that sucks... A lot I keep a spare key in my wallet because I have a bad habbit of locking my self out. Benefit being is the spare key isn't microchipped so it won't start the car but will unlock the door allowing me to get the key that will.
I got a flat a couple years ago got my jack out lowered my spare to find out its completely flat :/ that sucked called a tow truck they brought a thing full of air and filled it up but still cost a lot of money.

My fear is I don't have a spare for my trailer yet (its on my to do list) I do have a tire inflater sealer can just in case

Sorry about your morning but sounds like it worked out for ya

I have had my dog lock me out several times. I have the lockout issue solved. It's impossible for me to get locked out of my truck or my house. I have spare keys, appropriately placed.
I suggest you take the time to develop a strategy to fore-go this huge inconvenience. Being locked out leaves you vulnerable to more bad luck. Avoiding same is a matter of developing habits that prevent this.
It's also been my experience that it happens in groups, so it's likely to happen again soon. Take the time now to get some extra keys made,
You won't regret it.
What does C.I.D stand for?
Central Intelligence Department?

Lol, no. Criminal investigation division. The truck is what the sheriff's office provided me with. The spare key is kept at the office. They only gave me one key. I wish the truck was like my wife's dodge journey. Push button start and impossible to lock the keys in the car. I gave the guys something to laugh about at least. Nothing worked right for me yesterday though. The day ended with me trying to hunt a working fax machine. Had some documents that had to be sent. Never had a problem with the fax machine at our office till yesterday. Had to go to the city police department to send it and got home late. My wife had to pick up all three of our kids when she got off work and she was pretty stressed when I got home.

Fax machine? Do people still use those? You can find my Fax machine right next to my VCR......at the Goodwill store.
Why not just scan and email?. I haven't sent or received a fax in years. At the office......ours is still in service but it is very seldom used.

Yes, believe it or not that is the only way some companies will accept judicial subpoenas. It would have been much easier to email it but the company's legal team wouldn't have received it.:confused2:

I went for years that I kept the keyless entry in my pocket and would just pull the key out of the ignition and drop it in the console. That worked great.
