We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil痴 unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: 鏑ove the Lord your God with all your heart and 鏑ove your neighbor as yourself. Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

This issue gives Duck Dynasty more publicity than they had before, as if they needed it. Now everyone knows them. Maybe it was meant to be. Takes peoples minds off a lot more important issues such as the economy and the direction of the USA. I see Duck Dynasty merchandise in every convenience store, Walmart, grocery store and even at Cracker Barrel that I ate at the other day. The money from that family is benefitting many people and causes. The only people it hurts are the fans of the show, as their merchandising and the network may see a spike with all the publicity and all the people who believe in free speech and hate political correctness. That being said when people are in the limelight they have to be careful what they say as they can be found to represent A&E etc. as such and it reflects on them also to be politically correct if you know what I mean. As far as Phil, I doubt he gives a damn. I have relatives, long beards and all, in the deep south a lot like him and I know their sentiment. Phil is old, set in his ways, financially set for the rest of his life and probably don't care what you and me think. They can take it or leave it as they have already had a great run. :2cents:

I think everyone has gotten a little to caught up in this, and as you mentioned they forgot about Mr. Phils rights to his faith, beliefs. I support him 100%, I hope this is cleared up, and put behind us all. Merry Christmas to everyone.

A little bit about Phil in his youth via ESPN:

duck-dynasty.jpg

ESPN: With his full gray beard, bandana, camouflage clothes and dark glasses, Phil Robertson looks like a rocker from ZZ Top gone rogue.

Yet Robertson, who first found wealth as the inventor of the Duck Commander duck calls and then fame as the patriarch of a clan of Louisiana duck hunters on A&E's Duck Dynasty reality series, is no backwoods bumpkin. He's a multi-millionaire with a master's degree in education. He's also perhaps the best athlete ever to come out of the little town of Vivian, La.

In the 1960s, Robertson, now 66, was the starting quarterback at Louisiana Tech for two seasons ahead of Terry Bradshaw. His teammates and a coach recall him as a talented, outdoors-obsessed character who walked away from his final year of eligibility to spend more time hunting and fishing, but had the talent to play in the NFL.

So you mean to tell me this guy invented the duck calling tool that helped Charlie Conway round up the Ducks in Mighty Ducks D2?

What if he decided to go to the NFL? The duck commander may have never been made and BOOM Conway cannot round up the Ducks from Guy playing tonsil hockey with Conny to Adam Banks practicing in a collared shirt (cake eater move).

Also he passed up the NFL because it got in the way of Duck hunting season. Can't knock a guy for staying loyal to what he loves.

Let me see if I have this right It痴 okay that anyone can make outrageous claims about obvious racial injustice, and no one will call attention to such a claim
Someone is also allowed to compare other痴 lives to Terrorists and other Obvious Hate provoking statements. then they can 祖laim it is okay because they feel this way based of their religion. Their position is somehow protected 喪eligious conviction, but their purpose and intent is to spread hate and deprive others of their rights
We have been fighting wars because of the SAME type of religious 礎eliefs by Other fanatical followers of their book. They also justify everything they do because of their religion, Of course they are wrong because their belief is somehow not as valid as our belief.
So They are actually Terrorists & we get to compare our fellow citizens to those Terrorists if we feel we are Not following our particular book. But it is fine to take no personal responsibility for spreading your particular Hate, after all you think our book says it is okay to spread that hate. And while you are advocating the removal of others civil liberties & rights, you feel its fine because you are only exercising Your free speech rights.
There is Not a nickels worth of difference between taiban spreading hate and christian spreading hate They Both will claim their book directs their position and anything they do will be appreciated by their god.
So you can continue to pat the haters on the back, after all you feel it is fine to spread this type of hate, and it is the season for such hate. Myself I am done with this thread, I will unsubscribe to it and leave you here to justify hating your fellow American citizens.
Happy Holidays to most...:smile:KennyV

I don't agree with anything he said but yeah he has a right to think it and say it. I question his judgment in stating those views publicly though. Doesn't seem like a very wise thing to do unless you're looking for controversy. A&E also has a right to fire him if that is indeed what they did. Martin Bashir got canned for something he said and I don't see many people complaining about that. Neither had their freedom of speech impinged. I think we all have to accept that what we say sometimes has bad consequences and own it.

And then as some people have suggested the whole thing may be a stunt to increase ratings on the show.
Religious folks have a right to practice and live by their religious beliefs. They don't have a right to expect the rest of us to live by their beliefs. I have a hard time picturing Jesus Christ sitting in a blind with a 12 gauge :)
KennyV.. try not to take things so seriously.

Nope....you got it wrong.
You might want to actually read the article, as there was not much hate if any in those comments.
The guy is obviously no genius and I don't agree with him necessarily. Just because he's rich and famous doesn't mean his opinion on social issues is worth the breath it rode in on, furthermore he deserves whatever he gets. It is what it is.......
It's business you see, and whether or not that article was a smart business move is yet to be seen. I don't know the terms of his contract but it seems to me that A&E needs Phil more than Phil needs A&E. What Phil has can be sold, resold and marketed very easily.
I suspect that there will be no apology and somehow or another we will see Phil again soon. But, either way, it don't much matter to me.

To say the guy is obviously no genius may or may not be the correct statement, Phil Robertson is no backwoods bumpkin. He's a multi-millionaire with a master's degree in education. He is in that top 1or 2% class of people who supposedly make this country work or run or who have all the money. The thing is you will see Phil Robertson on this seasons Duck Dynasty because 9 of the 10 shows are already taped and are done so I don't expect this thing with A&E to be settled anytime soon. If I were Phil Robertson and had the money he has those shows would never air and A&E would pay big time.

See ole Phil made the news one more time. Amazing that the people who disagree with something don't have the right to speak about it any more while those who do have the rights to do as they please. Looks like we no longer have any freedom of speech among many other things.

The messed up part of all this is, a "reality show" star is punished for speaking his mind, on his own time.

Let this be a lesson to all of us, of how fake all of the "reality shows" are.

What I have a hard time with is that groups like GLAAD want to say that Phil Robertson speaks hate and intolerance. When in fact they are intolerant. If you don't agree with what they say is right then you are a bigget and a hater. It's groups like these that are making this country weak. The whole country has to work around the gays and any other diverse group who gets their feelings hurt so easy. It makes me sick that the true minority in this country has no say anymore because these other groups like GLAAD and the NAACP have been crying for so long that they have become a majority, yet still act as if it's the 1950's.
