Hi all!!

Just thought Id drop in and let you know about my new Deere. 2010 X748 with 62" deck and 13 hrs!!! Added the 3 point, push bar and block heater. The old LT 180 went to my neighbor for the same price I paid 4 years ago. Also bought an X 540 w 48" for smaller jobs. Still working on the 69 112 (restoration) and dont know what to do with the Sabre...

Now that is a big jump. John Deere 180 and Sabre to a John Deere X540 and X748. If it is in any shape at all you wouldn't have any problem selling the Sabre. I find if it says John Deere it sells good.

About the Sabre, been a good one, but alas, I experienced a rear end failure. (Well, not me personally but the Sabre...) Have a friend who was going to fix it, but a week later he came back with a box of recyclables that came out of the housing... Got a great 19.5 Kohler, and a48 deck with new blades

The 748 is what Ive been after since they came out just too pricey. Got this one from original owner for 9k. If you have a larger yard, I recommend this unit 100%. Deisel is burnt at about 3/4 g/hr. Ive had one since 1/Jun/13 and havent used 5 gallon can up yet. It is a beast!! Looks like Im going to be pushing some snow in the morning

Seemed to do alright this morning, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to add chains, if I can find a set. I have 200 pounds of wieghts on the nose that seems to help plant the front end. I had about 4 inches of snow last night from the big storm that went through, but it was mostly the light fluffy stuff.

You can ballast the rear tires by either filling them with fluid or adding cast irons wheel weights. The fluid is cheaper, but the weights a will probably add more weight. When I ballasted the rear tires on an old Snapper garden tractor I used to have, I was amazed at the difference in traction.
