I have a cub cadet ztr 50 zero turn and the rear drive pulley broke. This is the pulley that is connected to the crankshaft. I have removed the bolt and dropped the PTO clutch and belt pulley down (Slid right off). I have been trying to remove this drive pulley for two nights, I have lubed, heated, and used a pulley puller and have not been able to budge it. Can anyone please give me some pointers on how this thing comes off? Any comments are much appreciated, and thank you in advance for replies!

You may have to pull the engine so you can get to it easier, if the deck has an opening that will allow it.

Log in to Cub Cadet and have your model and serial numbers. Search for your Shop Manual and then applicable procedure. Pulley might have a setscrew threaded into crankshaft.

Mark, the replacement pulley doesnt have a set screw, it does say something about removing a key before removing the pulley. I have studied this thing over and over and with help of friends, the key is built into the pulley, that is how it is on the replacement pulley also.

Yes, it is a lot easier if you can remove the engine to cut that damn MTD crap pulley off...

Been there, done that!!!

Here is a pic, note the opening behind the pulley allowing the engine to lift off with the pulley on.

Think about what you said in your reply: " it does say something about removing a key before removing the pulley" and then " the key is built into the pulley".
You will have to remove key from new pulley with ball peen hammer and punch , about same width as key, before installing new pulley. The key is a machined fit into your crankshaft and pulley. After driving key through old pulley all the way, your old pulley should come off easily. Depending on the shape of your key, half moon shaped or bar stock, small rectangular, in other words installation is reversal of removal. Safety glasses are most important to wear as are gloves! For safety reasons, always disconnect negative terminal from battery first before performing major tasks! Scotching wheels is very important also!

Hope this helps.
