I moved to town when I was 10 years old. Now I am 56. I picked up a yard on the old neighborhood last week that is two lots down from the first yard I ever cut when I was 10.

Back then I got $3 to cut it with the customer's mower and $4 with mine. Now 46 years later we get $45 to cut the same yard.

Course when I cut with my mower it was a push mower that I paid $42 for at the TG&Y. Gas was like .25c a gallon.

You forgot to add " you had to push it uphill both ways, and without shoes".

jekjr,
Yep, back then(I'm a few years ollder than you) people would have thought us crazy to say that someday you would be "making a living" mowing yards.....much less charging upwards of $50/acre to do it!!!! Maybe the Moon landing really WAS fake....but paying someone to professionally cut your grass ain't:0)

I to.d a kid the other day at the gas station that when I was her age you would have never convinced me that one day I would put over $20 in gas in a lawn mower.
