Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

You can not get Fosters in Australia.
It is an export only beer made by Carlton & United Breweries which was bough out by a South African conglomerate a few years back.
Beer is actually more expensive than wine but SWMBO can not drink so I only do it when I am out with the boys.
Coopers is the only major beer made by an Australian company and their sales went up 2000 % when Carlton sold out
Some stuff is very expensive some stuff is very cheap.
Where there is real competition mark ups are a touch lower.
Fresh food is cheaper as is meat.
A beer is about $ 3 for a can.

.......................................................................................

Posted by BlazNT $3.00 is what we pay for a beer at a pub. We get a 24 pack from store for $18 to $20.

I have always know that most beer imported to the US is what locals think is trash. I do not really drink beer anyway but a good Crown and Coke is very good.

.........................................................................................

Bert, You mean all those TV ads we see about "Fosters" being "Australian for Beer" is pure BS??? I'm going to have to contact the Better Business Bureau..

.........................................................................................

Chuck,

A dollar Australian is about a buck and a quarter US - For whatever that's worth.

...........................................................................................

I quit drinking New Years Day 1970 after being arrested in Sasebo, Japan for "Creating an International Incident". (At least that's what it said on the report!) It was sort of my "Ah-Ha" moment.. Or like Bill Engvall says - "Here's your card!" Never liked beer anyway..

Re: Where we go next!!!

Speaking of Tom, (Pumper 54) - I have to jump ahead to this coming winter when hopefully (Lord willin' and the creek don't rise) Becky and I will once again seek warmer weather, only this time we are headed for the Gulf Coast of Texas..

My old Corpsman (also known as a "Chancre Mechanic"), who's actual nickname on the boats was either "Old Weird Harold", or "Fat Quack" happens to live in Conroe, Texas which isn't that far from where Tom resides. Currently, myself along with a couple crew members from LA, (no NorthBama, I don't mean "Lower Alabama") and maybe another guy from Iowa are planning to get together with Harold at the Seawolf Park in Galveston. The park was named for a US Submarine lost during WWII and the USS Cavalla is a museum submarine there. Perfect place for old submarine sailors to get together, right?

Assuming all that comes together, I'd like to invite Tom to come on down to the coast where I can shake his hand and tell him lies about Boo-Boo... LOL...:laughing::laughing:

We'll make something work, on way or another...

Roger

Roger,
When you all get to Conroe (20 miles away) give me a shout and we (Bride and I) can meet with you and anyone you drag along. I have not been to Sea Wolf Park (yet) so I am game for a road trip.

Heard it's got a huntin lodge and fishin camp with a 20 acre lake leading to a river with rapids, on the property, but needin minor up-dating .
Sure glad none of those things appeal to me !! .. .. JL , give us a holler or we'll get Tom to have the Montgomery FD out chasin ya down ...

That's great Tom,

It looks like Seawolf Park is about two hours away from you. We have not made any solid plans as of yet, but then it's early, but I will keep you in the loop as things develop. Hopefully by the time we all get together, your behind will have stopped hurting from your recent road trip!! LOL

Not that I don't want to meet your loving bride, but I suppose bringing Gretchen is out of the question? (Just Gretchen, no BIG lumbering husband..) I figure if I could just meet her in person, I could get a leg up on Boo-Boo.. I hadn't expected the sneaky bugger to call her on the phone.. He's a glib, silver tongued bugger, I get all tongued tied and start stuttering...

Hope to meet you next year at any rate..

I hate when you kick my arse with your comebacks, course being trapped in a stove-pipe all the time, all you guys had nothing better to do than tell jokes and figure out a comeback, while us flyboys were busy bustin knuckles ,swingin wrenches to keep our recycled beer cans flying, so we could protect our brothers on those steel scrap-piles floatin around the world, on their mission to add a girl in every port ! .. ..
