I replaced my sensor with an aftermarket one. The gauge works because when I ground the signal wire, it shows full. The new unit will only make the gauge show 1/2 even though the float is moved to the full position. I have included three pics, with the float rod in the empty, 1/2, and full positions. Am I not doing something wrong?

Note if you are grounding the lead to get a full reading then the resistance must go down not up. Unless you got the images backwards.
