YTA18542 Forward and reverse pedals stick

The foot pedals have recently started sticking and are sometimes very hard to depress. I lifted out the battery box to get a view of the linkage at the transmission and couldn't see much. Are there parts that get worn there or a place to lube it?

Usually, you have to remove the mowing deck and then raise the front of the machine to crawl under and study the linkage operations to see what is hanging or binding.
