January 8, of either 98, or 2008. Most likely 2008. MTD goes in ten year increments on serial number.
Thank you ILENGINE. I think 2008 is most likely because it looks new and reads 42 hours on a working hour meter. I'm not to concerned about the year, mostly just curious. I buy things by judging the condition of the item not how new it might be. I payed $1000.00 for it and don't feel that I got taken. gregjo1948
