Why is it when you get a new mower the grass seems to grow at snail pace? It's killing me because for once in my life I can't wait to mow the lawn!
Funny, but doesn't help. I know for a fact that I had to mow my lawn every time I turned around with the old mover. Never thought I would see the day that I really wanted to mow my lawn!!

It's still growing pretty good in my neck of the woods. The recent rain hasn't slowed it down any.

I had the same problem for a different reason. Here in Northern, IL the rain kept coming days on end. My grass in the backyard hit 8" but I couldn't mow due to standing water. Of course I had a brand new Hustler. I got too anxious and put a few nasty, deep tracks in the back 40 so had to be patient. Once it dried out I learned that my new mower cut long grass way better than my old tractor.

The need to cut grass is fundamental, yet every week or 10 days it must still get done. Lest it become a pasture small or large, greenfield or just wild land. Think of the thousands of miles we have traveled while cutting. Millions of miles by all of us in circles, lines and loops. Then to admire it, discuss it and even wait for the next time. Some men and women on machines, others walking behind, and as discussed here to even wish and hope that it grows even faster. So we can do it all again. Got to love this fascination!

Grass is growing crazy fast this summer down here. Once every 7 days isn't enough... by the seventh day its already past the point where it should have been cut.

I can answer that....it's because that grass is crazy afraid of that Gravely 260 chopping it's head off:0)

AFAIAC If lawn grass would naturally grow only 2" high i would be more than happy cause i can't find any pleasure in it. It's getting pretty old after 30 years rattling over that damm lawn every couple days.
And i'll be damned if i would buy a new mower for that rotten job:thumbdown:

It would be nice if the grass would grow just a little slower. Here it is growing about 6 inches a week. And raining all day today.
Wish I was looking out the window.
Worked in the rain yesterday. Slowed me down by 4 yards that I will have to cut today in the rain. Good thing I have my walk behind because ZTRs are no good on hills in the rain.
Good thing about cutting in the rain is no dust flying around and the engine runs cooler.

Not the case here. I was just making an observation that I love to mow with my new mower and I look forward to seeing it get long enough to mow. It isn't growing any slower....just seems that way because I want to run the lawnmower

How about cutting half your property. Then you can use your machine twice as often.
