Which blade adapter for my push lawnmower?

The blade adapter broke on my lawnmower. I bought a new one at Lowes. The guy working there promised me it was universal and would fit. :frown:

Attached are pics of my mower and the broken piece and new piece sold to me. The old piece had a wider key and I believe bigger diameter hole.

I wouldn’t use that new one. Post the model number off the deck. Engine numbers don’t help much.
