Got a used LA175. The previous owner had jury rigged a vise grip to keep the tensioner in place. Said there was some time of nut under the pulley that kept coming loose. What does the spring attach to? Want to fix it correctly. Thank you.

#7 is your spring and #6 is what it connects to. You will have to figure what it connects to on the deck.
