I have purchased a Simplicity Sovereign with the CH18S twin V Kohler Command 62513. I would like to Know when it was built. The Mft # is 1692450 and the Serial # is 50490. The warranty sheet seems to indicate it was built in 1995 or later. I read that B&S engines replaced the Kohlers in 1994, But clearly Kohlers were used in the '97 for the Anniversary Model (OHC). Mine is a OHV. Any help will be appreciated.

By your model number, your unit was built in either 1995 or 1996.

I have been able to determine that the engine was produced in 1996, so the tractor is a 1996 model as you suggested.
