I'm looking to purchase a fertilizer spreader for my yard but not sure if I should go with a hand held model or a push style? My yard is about a 1/2 acre or grass perhaps a bit less.

I would definitely get the push one. It holds more, covers more area, and takes less effort.

You could just carry the bag and toss it out by hand

(( racing is the only sport that you need two balls ))

if you have a riding mower, splurge and get a pull behind. If you are tall and use a walk behind it is very uncomfortable to push

Good idea! Since your profile says you have a Gravely mower you could get a spreader like the one shown below since you have a ZTR.

I have fertilized a fair number of acres in the last several years for wildlife plots. I used a pusher. Its not hard. I was doing it for a friend. My own yards I use a Scotts pusher. Mostly its just for overseeding and for barrier treatments for bugs. The little pushers work real well. I can get into some tight spots and back out in a flash. Easy to load in back of truck or trailer. Easy to wash up and stores overhead in the garage in the winter and hanging on the wall in the summer.
