What mower for 1/4 acre?

My home has around 1/4 acre of grass. I'm wanting to spend around $1k for a mower so that pretty much limits me to a Toro TimeMaster or a 42" rider. What would be best for my situation?

Thanks!

My choice would be the Timemaster. It's light, cuts well, easy to maneuver, fits through any gate, doesn't take up a lot of space.

I would take a serious look at the Toro model 20384. Yes I know it is a 21" unit, but with only a 1/4 acre to cut in my opinion 42" is over kill and a with the price difference you will have enough left over to have two drinks of your choice after each use.

I agree a 42 inch is overkill
I would get a good 21 inch.

With only a 1/4 acre your looking at 15ins with a push mower

Now I think you could do the job a lot faster with a 61in ZT. You should be able to get the complete job done less then 5 minutes from starting the mower to putting it away.

Somehow I don't think the engine on that will apreciate that... Lol

Its not going to be much different then the 42in rider, what is that about 2500 sq. foot. I would say to be realistic would be a small rider or a self-propelled mower.

Now there that could knock some time off of that 5 minutes . He might be just a little over his $1K. Just having some fun and I don't mean chase anyone away.

I think that would add time I mean turn it on drive it forward and the reverse to the otherside of yard he certainly is not turning around lol

I know. Anybody ever drive one of those things? If thats the model I'm thinking of there was one for sale here on CL. The guy posted vids. Awesome machine. Something like this but had an enclosed cab.

We used to run 328d, 345, and 327 groundsmasters. All had 72" decks, have a debris blower on one. Don't really run them anymore. Still have them but run other machines.

To the OP. I'd get the Timemaster.
