Here in the uk I see alot of cylinder machines cutting pitches etc. I tried to work out the cost running these. They must be alot mind. Heavy machine, then the big trailer. Wet fields mean you cant get on. Yes they leave a lovely finish but I dont think I could be converted in buying one. Are rotary machines starting to be more popular now ?
Ive managed myself using a rotary and can get on when its wet, due to much less weight. Personally im sold by zero turn mowers now. Speed, comfort, and next to no servicing at the end of year. All of my customers think they are great. A customer stopped me halfway through cutting and wanted a go of it :) he had never seen one before.
Anyone else sticking with the zero turns ?

Hi I work over in Essex/Suffolk border area! With my firm we dropped the ransomes cylinder mower as the running costs for parks was to high. I have replaced it with JD 8800, 5 deck rotary mower all with rollers for a first class stipe :) I reckon my running costs on it are a third of a cylinder mower!! I to love my zero turns! Just struggling to convince some of my team on them!!

Hi UK Gardner, The ZTR mowers are replacing all the other mowers fast, I dont have one yet, but when ever the ones i have now fall, a ZTR will take there place, They are both JD Mowere, i mow about 4 Ac. 1one of the mowers is a JD LT445 w/60 in. cut, the other is a JD LT 166 w/46in. cut, long story, dont need 2 moweres to cut this much grass, but we started out with 1 ac. so we got the LT 166, then about 2 years later we got another 3 ac, & that was a long stretch for the LT 166, we then got the LT 445, & was not offered much for the 166, so we just kept, when we cut My Bride rens the 166 & i the other, we do the place in 2 hr when we cut, both mowers are over 10 years old, so on day we will replace them both with a ZTR of some Brand, most likely it will be a Ex Mark

The ZTR mowers are replacing some of the other mowers for Commercial use but The Standers are making a big impact for the commercial operators also. I replaced a ZTR with a Stander. The Standers are as fast if not faster than the ZTR and Take up a lot less room on the Trailer.

I do am liking the look of standers, we don't appear to have many being imported into the uk tho which is a shame. Can see the advantages to them tho

Some good feedback there. Ive used zero turns for over a year, started with a 41" grasshopper midmount, then upgraded to the procat. The grasshopper has been a superb machine. Bombproof and easy to use. I took some bigger areas up to 5 acres, and the procat cuts amazing. Eats the areas up no time. I think if your a good operater and know sites, you can make a living. One thing ive learnt is make every cut as good as the last. Keep em happy.
One machine I would like to try is the convertable mower. It looks a very nice machine, which could save bags of time on hilly sites. Any pictures of machines you use please post. Cheers guys.

Since I only mow in a trailer park, I just use my 2 push mowers and my craftsman rider.

If I mowed in a subdivison I would use a ZTR.

Husqvarma pz7234 I love this zt. It's my favorite mower I ever used in 16 years of commercial mowing.

I run a Kubota ZG 222 with a 48" deck and am looking at buying a ZD in the 300 series with a 60" deck.
