I just don't understand these incompetent parts people. A neighbor lady came to ask a favor, she asked if she were to buy a new blade, air filter and spark plug would I install them for her, to which I said yes. After a 50 mile round trip she came back with the spark plug and blade but had to purchase the air filter at a local NAPA store. Long story short, wrong blade, wrong spark plug, air filter correct. I went to the local NAPA got the correct plug $2.19, installed it and the air filter, pulled the blade, just needed sharpening and balanced. She went to the same store where she bought the mower and there was one exactly like the one she bought on display as she had brought the paperwork from the initial purchase, what else do you need? No, I did not charge her anything, though she offered, & her yard looks nice using a sharp blade.

Good for you for helping your neighbor, opiepc.

I sound like an old fogie for saying this but the quality of service in retail stores has gone way down in the last few decades. When I do find a clerk who actually knows something about the stock that he/she is selling it makes a memorable impression.

This is all the more reason to shop online.

Right here is the reason I buy my own parts for my repairs. It just seems when the customer buys there own parts they are about 50% wrong. I find that you need some knowledge to buy the right parts. This also isn't nothing new. All the parts person know is what they see in the book and most of them don't know the difference from a spark plug to a wheel not saying that some parts sales people know what they are doing. This is the reason you have to know what you are buying.

My neighbor did the same thing lol he has an older craftsman mower with a briggs engine he bought a new toro blade a honda air filter it was cheaper. And a honda plug also cheaper he says they all look the same and these were on sale.

I took him to hd he returned everything showed him what he needed took him home and showed him how to install. I grabbed some of my oil and showed him how to change the oil and told him if you hit rocks or the blade gets dull bring it to me and ill show you how to sharpen.

He offered me 50 bucks plus gas. I said no so we settled on a soda :)
