I ordered a new starter for my Cub Cadet with a Briggs & Stratton engine. It came with a metal strip. What is the metal strip for, what to do with it?

I believe it is an extra mounting bracket. The starters fit different models. You can toss if not needed.

100% sure that you do not need it to get up and running. The starter just bolts in and connect the electrical portion at the appropriate location. I just changed my starter out and it came with an extra bar; which I did not use. You can hold on to it in the event that I am incorrect that it is an additional "mounting bracket".
