what is the rarest lawn boy item out there?

i just got a couple of lawn boy mowers and an edger i was wondering what the rarest one is just out of curiosity. thanks!

Can't remember the model but when I was in school one of the guys in small engines class had a lawn boy that his father had acquired at a silent auction for groups of lawn mowers that were tradeins at the local Walmart. He found an extremely rare all blue lawnboy pushmower that was all blue deck and motor and what's more it was an opposed twin. It was so rare that in order to fix it be had to order a twin cylinder coil for an evinrude boat motor to replace the burned out coil. It was so cool till we found out the next day that his dad had went out to run it and and ran straight gas in it effectively seezin_g it up. He had put after all was said and done right 325 $ in to the rebuild the aesthetic aspects were perfect it hardly any scratches or imperfections in the paint. That was the coolest thing I ever saw.

are you sure this was a lawnboy?, if so, it must of been when still owned by RPM, i have an opposed "free air" twin made by power products that is mounted on what looks like a kit mower, kit mowers were common in the fifty's, mine still runs great, i'm not sure if i'll leave it as is or restore it, i've never seen another twin like the one on this mower:rolleyes:

Please post a photo of that "kit mower". I don't know what that is but I'm very interested in the twin cylinder engine.

I have fine memories of Power Products. I had a go-kart with a Power Products engine. :cool:

the mower is up at where i work, i'll try to get a pic tomorrow, kit mowers were just that, you bought the kit (deck, wheels, handle), and you would supply the engine of your choice, i've seen them listed in old magazines from that time period:smile:

ive searched all of google and youtube and cant come up with any blue lawn boy that has 2 cylinders:( it sounds really cool though!!

The mower he's talking about isn't a LB. There is a thread with photos of a 1950s "kit mower" here in this forum.
