What is the Purpose of Each of These Items?

Hey Y'all,

I recently purchased a used Husky 128LD trimmer. It seems to be in good overall mechanical condition but leaks fuel and sometimes doesn't run correctly. I went ahead and purchased a fairly comprehensive kit including a carb (below). I think the main issue is with the fuel lines, so I plan to start with renewing those and maybe the plug and do the rest if and when necessary. I'm wondering what these items are that came with the kit: The wire with the ring and the spring (circled in the screenshot and an actual pic of the parts included). Guessing the wire with the ring may be for pulling fuel lines, but that's just a guess. ...and the spring? No clue. Can anyone enlighten me, please?

Thanks!

Looks like they are to hold down a keyboard to me. Working pretty good per the pictures too.

The little cable assembly is for grabbing the hose end once it is forced through the tank grommet, that way the filter can be put on the end of the hose and dropped back in the tank.

The spring is a stronger throttle tension spring in the event you feel that the throttle response is too quick or if the original breaks someday.

The rest of the parts are future service spares to use as they are needed. Lots of carburetor are sold with spares these days to "sweeten the deal" for the potential buyer.

Thanks Doc 🙂 That kit came with not a single piece of paper saying what any of it is.

Brilliant. I can see why you're such a valued member of the community, @slomo

Actually the small wire ring is suppose to slip over the fuel line install the fuel filter and then slip the wire ring down over the hose/filter connector to act as a retainer.

It's been my experience, the best way for me to get the line into the tank, is to cut a long taper in the line end and start it into the tank hole, then reach in through the cap hole with a pair of needle nosed-pliers(I use forceps) and pull the line in the correct amount, then cut the taper off and put the filter on the now square cut end. I think that spring is a reinforcement/clamp that holds the line on the filter nipple. Put it on the fuel line before putting the filter on.
