My gxv 120 -118 cm3 engine died. I have a few parts on the way to fix it, but I might not want to deal with it. What can i replace it with? Its on a HR214 with the serial number mzan-6126541. Deck also has HRC216 HF. I know one of those is wrong, but the engine is for sure gxv120 118 cm3. It is not a belt driven trans. Has a shaft. Thus my issue with finding a replacement. I am not sure whwere to look and dont want to spend a crazy amount when i can buy a brand new mower for 1100

Thanks

I know the GXV140 and GXV160 swap, and I think the GXV120 does as well . . . the HR214, 215, and 216 are baicaly the same decks with different engines. Ifit's an HR216 deck, it can definitely take a GXV160 . . .

thanks! i just got the part I ordered, but the valve doesnt slip into it. i might just end up buying a new engine. Where can I get one of those other engines?

Those engines are specific to Honda products so you will likely have to go through a dealer which won't be cheap. That mower is thirty + years old, unless you have a strong sentimental attachment to it let it go. I loved my HR215 but couldn't locate enough parts to rebuild it and repowering was not economically feasible (plus the household CFO said no)

No attachment to it, just got robbed on it. Bought it used for a few hundred bucks and it ran great for about three days. Hate making a bad investment.... Thanks for your help!
