Anyone have information as to the tensile strength of V belts in pounds? An automotive belt with the letter A width designation for instance. I know they are strong for what they are but how strong?

I also found it a little strange too that nothing was on the net. If I recall in my younger days we towed a car with one.

Haven't ever come across tensil strength ratings for belts, but have found that lawnmower belts are measured under 130 pounds of tension, which is why a standard length belt measures 1/2" shorter than what is on the package.
Years ago when I sold auto parts I came across a parts book that said for every 3/8s a v belt is thick its good for 20 lbs of pull. That was in an old semsco belt book
