I am changing bearings. I have sprayed generously w/ pb blaster and beat the heck out of the spindle with a hammer and block of wood, and it hasn't budget (both spindles) Am I missing something??? My next idea is to take to a shop with a press...

You need to put the spindle on something more formidable than that flimsy deck. You need to find a big bench vise, the deck has too much "bounce"...
