Hello and thanks in advance for any assistance.

I need help with a lawn mower that won't start, figured I would post something on here to see if anyone could help. I will be descriptive as possible and try to provide as much details as possible.

So I have a Troy-Bilt 260 push lawn mower, I recently moved from Texas to Mississippi. It worked just fine in Texas the last time I used it, but now it is not working. Prior to moving the last time I used it, I put weed eater fuel in it because there was no fuel in the lawn mower and that is all I had at the time. It worked just fine for that one time use. During the move the mower was not dropped or anything like that, so that is not an issue. So now the mower won't start.

The things that I have tried was replacing the spark plug, I checked the oil, it doesn't look black or anything, I drained the fuel and replaced it with fresh fuel also. I checked the air filter and it wasn't bad, the carburetor. The lawn mower is only a few years old. When you pull the handle everything is operating the way it is supposed to be with the handle and line.

Just wondering if there is anything else I can do to troubleshoot this issue, any help will be appreciated. Thanks again, and if you need more details I can give it. Thanks!!!

Put some fuel in the cylinder thru spark plug hole. Try starting up, does it try to startup? If not then check for spark.

I checked the spark plug prior to your reply and it wasn't sparking (the new spark plug). So I put the old spark plug in and it was sparking...

I did like you said and added the fuel to the spark plug hole and it started up for a second and then died out. I'm guessing this means fuel is not getting to that area.?.

Yep, it fuel flow is good from the fuel tank to carb then it needs a carb cleaning.

Okay, so I opened the carb up and it appearas to be clean inside. The bottom portion of the carb had gas in it, but the top portion (part with 2 valves) is dry...

I'm curious, if I had the fuel line plugged into the carb, should it trickle up to the top chamber with the 2 valves? Or does this happen with air flow, creating a suction, pulling the fuel from the bottom chamber?

I only ask because with my fuel line connected, I don't see anything trickling to top chamber...

So I poked at the little holes in the carburetor with a paper clip and reassembled everything and it cranked up; after putting a little more fuel in the spark plug hole...

One of those little holes must of been plugged with a little debris I'm guessing.

thanks again for the help Mikel1... You and Google was all it took lol
