I have an 8 to 10 year old Toro 72" zero turn with a Kohler command Pro 26 engine with electronic fuel injection. I have 2 issues, No.1 the battery will not hold a charge. If I charge up the battery we can mow for about 2 hours then the engine starts 2 cut out, if we disengage the electric clutch the engine runs fine, if you turn off the mower it will not start unless you jump it or charge the battery. The battery is 2 monthes old. No. 2 when we first start the mower it has to warm up for 10 minutes or so before it will quit surging, and then if you get into heavy grass it will start to surge again and you have to stop and let it run for a minute before it smoothes out. Any ideas would be great!
Charge the battery and start the engine. Take a voltmeter and measure DC voltage at the battery, with the engine running at full throttle. If it measures less than 14.2 DCV your charging system is not working. Here is a manual that may also help you out.
