I have a Toro Guardian Recycler 84 inch mowing deck I bought used for a project. It is complete with the gear box. what I need to know is the input shaft speed of the gear box and the HP required because I want to turn it with a hydraulic motor.

That info is likely out there, but you probably need the original Toro model number...
Model number of the unit that deck came off is 30384. Without knowing the year the Groundsmaster was produced it is difficult to know which engine was used to power that deck. If you can find the engine used or year of manufacture it would help greatly.

You can get service manuals for different units on the Toro web site, using that model number. That is about the best I can do with no exact unit. Good luck. Post back if you have any other questions.

I could not find any tags or numbers on the deck but this is what I do know. The 5 blades are each 19" long, the driven pulleys on the spindles are 6.5" diameter, the drive pulley on the gear box is 10" in diameter and the ratio of the gear box is 1 rev on the input to 1.35 on the pulley. Is there a good HP per foot rule for a finish mower?

most makers adjust the engines to rpm to achieved their desired tip speed for liability reasons, which is why the to r.p.m.s varied depending on the unit....
