The more I use my Toro, the more I'm wondering if the linkage is adjusted correctly. When trying to reverse under load, such as on a hill, it just doesn't move with alacrity.

Where do I find the how-to?

Have you looked at the rear wheels when trying to back up a hill? Are they loosing traction?
If the mower goes straight with both bars forward then the linkage is fine.

When backing up a hill it will not be easy to turn.

Standard test, on level ground , tyres adjest to correct pressure.
Hold bars together then go full forward about 5 to 10 yards then reverse back, again keeping the bars together.

If all is adjusted properly you should end up back exactly where you started.
If I end up +/- a yard I leave well enough alone.
In the early days you had seperate adjustments for forward , reverse and lever position
However a lot of ZTRs now have only adjustment on one side, or max forward only.
Another victim of dropping prices. adjustable controls cast a lot more to make.
