thoughts on buying a used yt42xls with a fr691v kawasaki 23hp

i have a small 1/2 acre property with thick grass that gets cut every week or two max . I allways had briggs engines never kawasaki
found a nice very clean 165 hr yt42xls with the 23 hp motor and new blades . not sure of the year but it has the fabricated deck foot pedal drive. how is this motor for reliability seller wants 1000 can get for 900
buy or pass---- mower is 6 hr round trip from my home

Personally, I would pass. You don't have to look that far away from home to find a good mower.

I highly recommend the Kawasaki engines. I had the 23 hp Kawasaki on my 2013 Husqvarna YT42DXLS and now have the 24 hp on my 2017 Husqvarna GT48DXLS. If you don't mind a 48 inch cut you might consider one of the GT or TS models that have the heavier duty K-66 transmission. It's much quieter than the K-46 on the 2013 I had. The K-66 on the 2017 doesn't seem to strain like the K-46 did.
