If you had seen my old post, i had posted pictures of the engine mount. well the engine is mounted, running, belts set up, pully modded, and running like hell. its insainly fast, the tranny works perfectly, next is to start the track building process.

Nice work! Not to hijack your thread but since you have fooled with snowmobile engines but might find it interesting that my Trabant 601 came with a 600cc 2 stroke 2 cylinder engine:

The car is a blast to drive but it's engine is very inefficient. Only 28hp. But it was based off a pre WWII DKW engine. Top speed of around 65 mph on flat land (full throttle). That's OK but living here in mountains of East Tennessee where there are nothing but hills, more power going up steep grades would be great. Most hills around here limit my top speed to around 30 to 35 mph at full throttle. It actually does pretty good on flat land since the car weighs around 1300 lbs.

I've modded about all my vehicles to some degree and would like to do something with my Trabant but nothing too radical.

I turbocharged my Fiat Spider, replaced the 1100cc engine in my Yugo with a 1500 Fiat X 1/9 engine (bolts right in) and added a T25 turbo but have never done a "true" engine swap. I would like to transplant a similar size/type/looking engine that is more efficient.

I did asking on a snowmobile forum with the following criteria:

Air cooled
2 stroke
2 cylinder
carbureted
At least 50 HP
About the same size as my Trabbi engine

It was suggested a 61hp Arctic Cat 570 engine would be a good choice. Trouble is I live in Tennessee where snowmobiles are not very common so I would have to look out of state for a donor vehicle. Most of the Arctic Car 570 engines I have seen on Ebay are stripped down short blocks missing the carbs and cooling fan. It would be nice to find a complete snowmobile with this engine that is wrecked beyond repair but still runs I could salvage whatever I need off it.

Around here jet skis are more common because we are surrounded by man made lakes. But they use a different method of cooling the engine. This one needs to be air cooled.

Here is my post with some photos:
